The blog will deal with all your basic doubts of basic electronics, so here in this post you will learn some basic electronic devices.
Ever wondered while your faculty suddenly asks you to tell some basic electronic devices, then what you should reply....! The answer is below....
Here is the list of basic electronic devices:
Switches: A switch is a device for making and breaking a connection in an electric circuit. More detailed notes on switches can be read here. Switches in Electronics
Ever wondered while your faculty suddenly asks you to tell some basic electronic devices, then what you should reply....! The answer is below....
Here is the list of basic electronic devices:
- Resistors
- Capacitors
- Diodes
- Transistors
- Transducers
- Sensors
- Switches
- Detectors
Resistors: A Resistor is a element which restricts the flow of current and dissipates that energy into heat.
So when a current flows through a resistor then it restricts the flow of current but that energy is converted into heat as energy can neither be destroyed nor created. We can take example of a resistor connected in series with LED (Light emitting diode) to limit the current passing and hence protecting the LED to get damaged.
A resistor is of two types: 1) Fixed type
2) Variable type
A fixed type resistor is having a fixed resistance value according to the colors on its body. The resistance of the fixed type resistor can be calculated using color coding as discussed in other post of RESISTOR COLOR CODING.
A variable type resistor is of variable resistance. i.e, its resistance can be changed. Example of variable type resistor is Rheostat, Potentiometer.
Capacitors: A Capacitor is a electronic device that stores charges. These are used with resistors in timing circuits, because it takes time for capacitor to charge. These are generally used to smooth the varying DC supply. These are also used in filter circuits to pass AC signal and block DC signal.
There are many types of capacitors but they can be mainly classified as Polarised and Unpolarised capacitors.
Polarised capacitors: These have large capacitance, more than 1 micro farad. These have positive and negative terminals and are having one short and other large terminal.
Unpolarised capacitors: These have the capacitance values up to or less than 1 micro farad. These does not have any positive or negative terminal and each legs are of equal length.
Transistors are discussed completely here: Transistors and its Practical Applications
Diodes: A Diode is two terminal device that allows flow of current in only one direction. There are different types of Diodes and each are separately explained in other post of the blog here. Diodes types and applications
Switches: A switch is a device for making and breaking a connection in an electric circuit. More detailed notes on switches can be read here. Switches in Electronics
It is in simple and easy to learn.

ReplyDeleteUndertakings are a piece of any designing educational modules. Final year projects for Electronics Engineering help understudies to execute what they realized in their four years designing examinations. They likewise help the workforce to comprehend their understudies' execution. Engineers Garage is also the website which is only for Electronics and Electrical Engineers. Where students can find various Projects ideas and tutorials on Microcontroller, Electric Circuits and more. Very Helpful website for Final year engineering students.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this. I really like what you've posted here and wish you the best of luck with this blog and thanks for sharing. Engineering Mathematics 2
ReplyDeleteThis blog is very helpful for those who want to pursue Electronics and Communication Engineering as the author has highlighted upon the basics of ECE. CMR University, Bangalore is one of the best private universities in India. The School of Engineering & Technology - CMRU, offers B.Tech. ECE programme. This programme combines both theoretical knowledge and practical application to prepare the students to face the industry. It furnishes adequate knowledge to the students in Mathematics, Physics, Electronics and Communication systems to supervise and manufacture electronic equipment. This ECE programme also allows students to delve deep into the principles of electronic devices.
